Funeral and bereavement flowers

There are no strict rules when choosing funeral flowers. White flowers such as lilies, roses and chrysanthemums are often chosen for their peaceful and respectful appearance, while soft pastel shades are also popular. Increasingly, people choose flowers that reflect the personality or favourite colours of the deceased. The most important thing is to choose a funeral arrangement that creates a personal and sincere tribute.

Funeral flowers can be delivered to different locations depending on the family’s wishes and the funeral arrangements. They are usually delivered directly to the funeral home, ceremony venue, church, crematorium or cemetery. If you are unsure of the correct delivery location, check the funeral notice or contact the funeral home to confirm the address.

Funeral flowers are preferably delivered 1 to 2 hours before the ceremony begins so they can be arranged in time. We therefore recommend ordering as soon as the funeral date and location are known. Through Fleurop-Interflora’s network of local florists, we arrange for the flowers to be delivered to the correct location at the agreed time.

We recommend ordering your funeral bouquet, wreath or arrangement as soon as the funeral date is known. Smaller sympathy and funeral bouquets may be available for same-day delivery. For medium-sized wreaths and funeral arrangements, we recommend ordering 24 to 48 hours in advance. For very large or bespoke funeral arrangements, allow around 72 hours. If the funeral is within two working days, contact our customer service team so we can check what is still possible.

A sympathy message does not need to be long. A few sincere words are often enough to express your condolences. Examples include:

“With deepest sympathy”
“Wishing you strength during this difficult time”
“Forever in our thoughts”
“Rest in peace”
"A final farewell”

Above all, choose words that reflect your relationship with the deceased or their loved ones.

Yes. Even after the funeral, a sympathy or condolence bouquet can provide meaningful comfort to the bereaved. Once the activity surrounding the funeral has subsided, flowers accompanied by a personal message can be a thoughtful gesture of support and sympathy. As a general guideline, it is best to have sympathy flowers delivered within around two weeks of the funeral.

Funeral flowers, such as funeral wreaths, arrangements and funeral bouquets, are intended for the funeral service itself and are usually delivered to the funeral home, church or crematorium. A sympathy or condolence bouquet is delivered directly to the bereaved family’s home as a personal gesture of sympathy, comfort and support.

The Fleurop-Interflora funeral collection includes a wide range of sympathy bouquets, funeral bouquets, wreaths, funeral arrangements in different shapes and casket flowers. You can choose understated white flowers, soft pastel shades or more colourful arrangements. Consider your relationship with the deceased, their favourite flowers or colours and any specific wishes for the funeral. A personal and heartfelt choice is always appropriate.

Once you have selected the funeral flowers and entered the details of the deceased and the funeral venue, your order is sent to a local Fleurop-Interflora florist. If necessary, the florist will contact the funeral home or crematorium directly to coordinate the delivery and ensure the flowers arrive at the correct location in time for the service.

To ensure correct funeral flower delivery, provide the name of the deceased, the full address or details of the funeral venue and the exact time of the ceremony when placing your order. For medium-sized and larger funeral arrangements, we recommend ordering at least 24 to 48 hours in advance so the local florist has sufficient time to prepare and deliver the flowers.

This depends on the family’s wishes. Funeral flowers are often placed on or near the grave after the ceremony. The family may also choose to give individual flowers to those attending the funeral, which can then be dried and kept as a lasting memento of the deceased.
